Live music and livelier locals
Dining Ohiopyle’s melody draws you in as much as the food itself. The sound of rushing whitewater, the toot of a passing train whistle, the “yinz guys” dropping off locals’ tongues: the state park is as charming with its fauna as it is with its townees. I work up a sweat raising up rental bikes summer days in the park. After I clock out, I love dining Ohiopyle. I stroll down Garrett Street. Before the CSX train’s passed, I’m raising a frosty brew with my coworkers at the Pub.
Blessedly, Falls City Pub opens its doors year round. In the summer on Saturdays, it opens its sneaky garage-like Garrett Street wall. Local bands’ tunes waft into the crisp Ohiopyle evening air.
Our dance parties in the store prepared us for this particular night.
My group of dedicated dancers and I broke down the scene to Fern Cliff Collective. Fern Cliff keeps dancers on the edge of their dancing toes. Their music seamlessly flows from one song to the next. Clark’s shiny head gleams as he sings a foot-stirring rendition of “Boogie Shoes.” Jess strums away, nodding politely but probably not heeding my request for a Dolly or ABBA song. The harp player (and yoga sansei), Wade, rips a solo with one of his small army of harmonicas. The state park night breezes down to the sixties. The dance floor smolders, packed with boogying locals and visitors flaunting flannel and tie-dye.
Dining Ohiopyle: Are we human, or are we burrito?
What would that fine prancing be, though, without the Pub’s edible attractions. The Pub, as its name suggests, boasts a fine selection of microbrews. We are a hippy town, after all. And the food? Just thinking about the food makes me drool all over my keyboard as I write. The hot smells of the veggie, meaty, and starchy delights create their own chorus of “mmmm’s” throughout the restaurant. My personal dining Ohiopyle favorito is the black bean burrito. It’s pretty grande, but as a twenty-three-year-old woman, I need all that black bean protein to fuel my hours of dance.
Sweet, a list!
In sum, the Pub is:
- Satisfying American fare and frosty microbrews
- Live music on Saturdays, acoustic on Sundays, open mic on Fridays, and the thrill of competition with a pool table open any day of the week
- Located in the state park so you can unwind without leaving that magical, forested atmosphere
The whitewater thrills, the GAP enchants, and the fishing forms fond memories. Finish these Ohiopyle experiences with Ohiopyle dining. The fine food, tasty brews, and fun times at the Pub mean the end of your day won’t be the end of your adventure.
